On August 6, 2013, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced his office will be hosting a Citizens Academy in September of 2013. The purpose of the academy is to give Mercer County residents the opportunity to see an overview of the Sheriff’s Office, and how it differs from other local law enforcement agencies.
Topics covered in this academy include the history of the Sheriff’s Office, touring the new facility and understanding the divisions that make up the Sheriff’s Office. There will be hands on demonstrations.
The Academy will take place from September 3rd until October 1, 2013, and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm – 9pm for a four week period. There is no charge for attending this Academy.
The Academy is open to residents of Mercer County over the age of 21. A background check is required. Applications may be picked up at the Sheriff’s Office. Class size is limited. Interested persons may pick up an informational packet and application at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, 4835 State Route 29, Celina, during normal business hours weekdays.
