Celina, OH - Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced today his office has received word from the Ohio Department of Public Safety that his office has received two grants.
The first grant, entitled the High Visibility Overtime Grant, allows deputies to spend more time targeting problem areas while on patrol. The grant is for $19,803.11. The purpose of this grant will be to reduce traffic crashes and infractions that cause accidents.
The second grant, entitled Mercer County Safe Communities 2013, will be used to provide team building coalitions to study and improve target high accident areas. It will also include a fatal crash review team, which will be made up of individuals who access the accidents and target issues that cause them. This will also include educational materials, supplies and equipment. This grant is for $35,000.00.
Sheriff Grey stated “we are thankful to receive these grants that allow us to spend more time working on our problem areas in our county and hopefully reduce our traffic crashes”.
