Celina, OH – Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey today announced that his office is investigating a burglary that occurred on July 25, shortly after noon. The burglary occurred at 5341 North Shore Drive, Celina where an alert neighbor noticed suspicious activity at the residence.
The neighbor contacted the residence owner who confirmed that the suspect should not have been in his house. The neighbor and residence owner confronted the suspect. The suspect then returned the money that was stolen and fled on foot. The home owner was able to identify the suspect and reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies then sought a warrant for the arrest of Thomas M. Allen, age 18, 6654 Coldwater Beach Road, Celina. Mr., Allen, realizing that deputies were looking for him, turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office. He is currently being held in the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility awaiting an appearance in court.
“Once again, our citizens have come through,” stated Sheriff Grey, “When neighbors look out for neighbors we are all a lot safer.”
